David has served as an educator, mentor, recruiter, non-profit executive and coach for more than twenty years. As a career naval officer and college adjunct faculty member, he grasps how technical professionals will shape our world and America’s leadership role in that changing world. Early in his career, he served as a naval trainer, of officers and sailors, for complex warfare specialties. He later led large research and development teams as a technical subject matter expert for high risk/high payoff pursuits by two Fortune 100 corporations. David has led two 501(c)(3) organizations, and capably served as a fundraiser / grant writer for two other charitable organizations. A collateral duty in his naval service was to coordinate recruitment and candidate guidance efforts of nineteen volunteers, in San Diego and Imperial Counties, for the U.S. Naval Academy. He managed these “Blue and Gold” efforts for more than seventy regional high schools to build future leaders. David is a staunch advocate of “high tech – high touch” talent management and workforce development. He is a certified personal trainer, world-ranked rowing competitor and US / Canadian champion in his Masters-age bracket, as well as an active volunteer for the Boy Scouts of America and supporter of Wounded Warrior and Veteran athletic programs for the Armed Services YMCA. David lives for those special moments when his students, mentees or personal training clients reach new “ah ha” moments or achieve brightened “light bulb” heights. He earned a Master’s of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California (under the GI Bill) and a B.S. in General Engineering from the United States Naval Academy. He and his wife are proud parents of two adult children who now serve in technical careers.
