Joel is an insightful and experienced administrator and coach. His extensive background over several decades includes cultivating professional and trusting relationships with first-year teachers and with various stakeholders who are involved with educating young people. As a former school principal and district-level administrator in Bay Area schools, Joel has designed multiple programs and has successfully implemented effective and innovative systems for schools throughout the region. His goal has been to strategically target students who are traditionally underserved. His passion for ensuring all youth receive a quality education produced numerous awards and led him to develop several innovative project-based learning modules in Bay Area schools. As former professor and site supervisor with Loyola Marymount University’s Teacher Induction Program, Joel has observed and trained hundreds of teachers and administrators to many positive outcomes through the years. Joel holds a BA degree in English Literature from San Diego State University, a MAEd degree in Educational Leadership from the University of California at Berkeley, is an alum of the prestigious Principal Leadership Institute (P.L.I.), and is a certified United Nations S.F. Chapter Mentor. Joel resides in the Bay Area with his wife and three children.
