STEMx Tutors Program Manager

Laura has experience as both a STEM professional and as a middle school science teacher. She received a BS in Biology, a BA in Chemistry, and a BA in Spanish at Roger Williams University in Rhode Island. After college, Laura went on to work in viral diagnostics in San Diego. Laura then joined the Peace Corps and spent two years in rural Nicaragua co-teaching science with local teachers. After developing a passion for equitable education in Nicaragua, Laura received her California science teaching credential. She spent three years teaching middle school science in San Diego and loved working with middle schoolers! As the science lead she helped implement opportunities for students to connect to real life scientists and experience local STEM workplaces. During this time she also directed Camp Galileo, a kids summer program where campers (and staff) learned and practiced design thinking. Laura is thrilled to be joining the EnCorps team as the STEMx Tutors, Program Manager, and she can’t wait to connect students with passionate STEM professionals to support them in math!
