LOS ANGELES, CA – December 11, 2018 – The EnCorps STEM Teachers Program is proud to announce it has been named a recipient of the 2018 HALO Award. The Carl & Roberta Deutsch Foundation honors nonprofit organizations serving in Los Angeles County each year with the HALO Award, a capacity building effort to strengthen and sustain nonprofit organizations by supporting volunteer programs and to recognize and reward volunteers doing exemplary work in their communities. Selected nonprofit organizations and individual volunteers receive capacity building support with peer learning sessions and one-on-one coaching to help shape key program strategies and develop a volunteer management plan; $20,000 grant for a nonprofit to strengthen, implement, and sustain its volunteer efforts; and $5,000 award to a nominated volunteer who has gone “above and beyond” in volunteerism.
