January marks National Mentoring Month, a time to honor the transformative power of mentorship and to inspire individuals to become mentors. At EnCorps, we understand the profound impact mentors can have, and we’ve integrated mentorship into our programs to support educators and students alike. Through our STEMx Tutors Program, STEM Teachers Program, and CTE Teacher Training Program, we are fostering meaningful mentorship relationships that drive success and growth in under-resourced communities.

STEMx Tutors Program: Elevating Math Confidence

The STEMx Tutors Program is designed to increase math proficiency and boost middle school students’ confidence in math by providing access to online tutoring from STEM experts. This program targets students who may not have equitable access to high-quality STEM education. As a STEM professional or college student, you have the opportunity to share your passion for math with these students, helping to close the education gap and inspire a love for STEM subjects. By participating, you’re not just a tutor; you’re a mentor guiding students towards academic success and a brighter future.

STEM Teachers Program: Inspiring Future Educators

For those interested in exploring a career in education, the EnCorps STEM Teachers Program® offers a unique pathway. This program recruits STEM professionals who are considering a transition to teaching in under-resourced communities. Once accepted, participants become EnCorps Fellows and collaborate with dedicated Program Coordinators to create individualized plans that explore the teaching profession’s viability. This unpaid fellowship provides invaluable mentorship and support, ensuring that potential educators are well-prepared to make a meaningful impact in the classroom.

CTE Teacher Training Program: Equipping Experts to Educate

The CTE Teacher Training Program at EnCorps is specifically tailored for subject-matter experts who wish to bring their industry knowledge into the classroom. This program provides pedagogical training to ensure that students receive a high-quality STEM education. We develop customized training programs that seamlessly integrate with existing professional development schedules and align with specific teaching frameworks. By equipping professionals with the necessary teaching tools, we help them transition into effective educators, thereby enriching the educational experience for students. A key component of our training is the mentorship aspect, where experienced educators mentor those newer to the field.

Join the Movement: Be a Mentor

At EnCorps, we’ve embraced the power of mentorship through our various programs, recognizing that mentors play a pivotal role in shaping the future of education. Whether through our tutoring program, our teachers program, or our CTE training, we are committed to fostering relationships that support both mentors and mentees. This National Mentoring Month, we invite you to join us in celebrating and promoting the life-changing impact of mentorship.

By stepping up as a mentor, you can make a lasting difference in the lives of students and educators, empowering them to achieve their full potential. Let’s work together to inspire the next generation of STEM leaders and educators. Visit our website to learn about our tutoring program or explore becoming a STEM teacher.
