Public School Districts and Charter Networks
EnCorps educational partners are critical to our mission. We work with prominent school districts in California and New York, including the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), San Diego Unified School District, Oakland Unified School District, Twin Rivers Unified School District (TRUSD), New York City Department of Education as well as several charter school networks, to give our STEM Fellows an opportunity to choose from over 250+ high-needs schools to complete their volunteer guest teaching for two hours a week for 10 consecutive weeks.
STEM Teacher Pipeline Development
The volunteer guest teaching experience is central to the Fellowship. By placing STEM professionals in high needs schools, we are addressing many of the current shortcomings and needs of the public education system. Our intention is to cultivate a new generation of impactful STEM teachers and leaders from a largely untapped source. We are dedicated to increasing the number of high quality science and math teachers throughout California, Colorado, and New York.
For our school partners, hosting EnCorps Fellows is a teacher pipeline opportunity. During the 10-week guest teaching, school administrators have the opportunity to get to know the candidate, observe the EnCorps Fellow’s take-over day and offer them a position with confidence that they will work well within their school’s community and culture.
Schools would host an
EnCorps Fellow Again
While our STEM Fellows gain valuable hands-on classroom experience during their volunteer guest teaching, our school partners get access to an untapped pool of highly-educated STEM professionals passionate about teaching in an under-resourced community.
