STEMx Tutors Program Manager
Ramiro believes that education can be an avenue for liberation and transformation particularly for communities and families that have been marginalized. He has dedicated his professional career to working with students and schools in traditionally underserved communities. He received his BA in Mathematics from the University of California, Berkeley and subsequently worked as a 3rd and 4th grade math teacher at Lighthouse Community Public Schools in Oakland. Afterwards, Ramiro supported recently immigrated students at Fremont High School and Oakland International High School by coordinating an after-school tutoring program and providing individual mentoring. He is excited to bring his experience to the EnCorps team as the STEMx Tutor Program Manager and is looking forward to partnering with schools and STEM professionals to provide critical math support to students across the Los Angeles area.
