In the season of gratitude #allyearlong, we like to show appreciation to our students. Whether they are achieving better marks in Math or learning a new concept, we recognize quick successes are wins!!  Here are some meaningful ways to show your tutoring student appreciation during the holidays:

  • Digital gift card – Give a digital gift card to their favorite coffee shop, bookstore, or food spot ($10-15 is plenty)
  • Personalized Note or Card – Write a specific message highlighting their progress, effort, or a breakthrough moment you’ve witnessed. Middle schoolers especially remember when someone notices their growth – mention concrete examples like “I’m so proud of how you tackled that word problem” or “Your confidence in math has grown so much.”
  • A Digital bookmark with an inspiring quote
  • Personalized certificate of achievement – Create a custom “Star Student” or “Most Improved” certificate
  • Educational app subscription – Math Nation, Headspace for students, or other subject-specific apps
  • Custom playlist or study music – Curate focus/study music on Spotify with a personal note
  • High school preparation books, like PSAT Math workbooks and study guides offer continued support and incentive
  • Recommending Podcasts, YouTube channels, Websites to match their age group and up their math skills

The Most Meaningful Thing is to offer honesty. The students this age group just want someone to pay attention to what they’re doing and acknowledge their wins. Doing these things throughout the duration of the relationship helps bridge connection.
